At PsyBot studios, you can mostly resample instruments as there is no on-premise possibility for live recording of bands or individuals at this moment. There are plans for moving PsyBot Studios in the future to separated premises that allow for recording of live instruments and bands and this will be announced when the time comes. However, there are some possibilities that are mentioned below.
If your submitted material is requiring re-sampling or re-amping of guitars and other instruments, this can be done in accordance to the situation of your track(s). In rare situations, I may have to intervene and replay and record a phrase or certain part of a track that cannot be fixed with any mixing technique, but this is something to be discussed and will be talked through if something similar occurs. Recording vocals is also not an option and resampling of vocals does not work in practice, logically. The only thing that can be done regarding vocals is correction in frequency, and eventually in the time domain (pitch correction and maybe time quantization). The latter is a destructive technique and uses a Radius algorithm to avoid Doppler frequency shifts when the time quantization is altered. Nevertheless, artifacts may occur and render it impossible to fix in more pronounced situations when the timing of the recorded passages is mismatching.
Most common user scenario of resampling instruments is drum replacement, whether is it a troublesome cymbal or incorrectly recorded kick drum that suffers of microphone phase issues. There are numerous techniques to correct some of these issue, which may involve side-chaining of a sample or generating a synthetic sample to fulfill the deficiency. Recording instruments such as guitar from the beginning is unfortunately not possible, unless this is agreed with your recording engineer.
Once the tracks are correctly recorded or resampled, the mixing stage will be much easier and deliver optimal results. Mixing an incorrectly recorded song will result in unsatisfactory outcome, which I would personally like to avoid. After all, you need to be satisfied not only from my work, but also from your own achievements and enjoy listening to your own music.
